i never really got what this website was about, but i think its fine and i think its really fun for people who love it and i love that. passionate online communities are special. that being said, the word scrobble should be purged from every record and anyone who says or writes it should be sentenced to hard labour
It's fun to use with friends, but it needs more social features (that it apparently previously had but were removed?). Yes the database is indeed a mess.
In hindsight, having your every musical motion panopticonized for the world to see is not actually that great. Also, the database is an absolute mess.

500k scrobbles deep babey. i love the ability to track my taste through the years even if its built with sticks and mud
Fun idea but the artist db is in shambles and it'll fuck up the way you listen to music if you care about it too much
its slow as fuck and it like barely works half the time but at least i get to show off my shitty music taste
the database's conflation of musical acts with identical names, a problem that could have been evaded over fifteen years ago with some PHP, is an easy -2.5 upon my rating. i regret not having set more song obsessions and instead having relied on running back certain songs a good ten or so times to make a point in my yearly scrobbles. no need to continue to use premium when i can just feverishly check for smart apostrophes to change them to standard apostrophes in songs' metadata. i get a thrill the most out of editing tag wikias, a great substitute to the stifling hell of Sonemic's genre profile submission queue—nothing beats adding a eloquent in-depth description to a tag like "this is fucking nuts" or tags of similar ilk.
