if you go to the page for tumblr the ratings histogram is pretty balanced amongst every possible score and that's exactly how it should be

I never go on it these days but it's always there for me if I want to go back and look at fandom stuff and cool art and thr occasional funny thing

would the world be better off without it arguably so but its my house and if it ever dies then i also will die

i really love tumblr. its a monolith of culture. you can really tweak your environment too. show me this, dont show me this, post this at this certain time, tag posts like this with #this tag, etc. its beautiful albeit there is a learning curve

Love it or hate it, its impact on culture at large can’t be denied. I’ve been on the site since 2010. Before egirls and woke went mainstream, we had all the nose-pierced rainbow haired girls/nbs gpoy-posting between arguments about the validity of neopronouns, which sexualities were orientations and not merely preferences, what should go on the Pride flag, and so on. I saw some of them grow up to have legit careers in the arts. But beyond the woke fandom stereotype: Blake Masters’ notes from Peter Thiel’s Stanford course, Sam Bankman-Fried’s girlfriend’s blog, shoplifting tips, a Triple J presenter writing Angus and Julia Stone hatefic, the “teacher crush” and “true crime” communities accidentally sharing the same tag, eshay vandals popping the guardie, train guards secretly aiding the vandals, long ADHD walls of text about something you really loved or hated… the incredible breadth of humanity on display in a time when not everyone was brainrotting online.

my anti-social social media site with my art and fandoms and writing and silly goofy posts that shaped my humor. <3 minus a star bc i didn't realize how white it was on there until that census poll went around... also the censorship on there is kinda crazy.
