It takes too long to cool down very hot food. That's why I'd much rather not overheat it.

Cools food down faster than not blowing on it, but not very effectively. I always burn my mouth anyway. I admit this is a “me” problem, and sufficient blowing + patience would prevent it, but I am imperfect. So is blowing on hot food. Three stars. –hogslinger
