This is quince jelly. I don't accept the scornful title "quince cheese". It's disrespectful to this already obscure little darling. A quince jelly cheese toastie was one of my partner's staple childhood foods. Last year, they made one for us to share, as I was so curious to finally give it a try (both with and without cheese). It's very understated, like if marmalade was made out of tart, floral pears. I wish it was more widely available in the US, I'd love to have it more.

who on earth is quince 'cheese' ! not sure what culture your partner is from, but in the US you can find something similar in mexican supermarkets sold as Ate (dulce) (but they are sometimes made of guava)
Those look wonderful, and I'd love to try any of those flavors. My partner is English, quince jelly is far easier to find in shops in the UK, especially in the winter. Not that it's a strictly "holiday" flavor, like the association with cranberries and Thanksgiving here in the US. Just something I'd noticed.
@cacophonous actually, in Mexico we tend to share them around the holidays too! so I totally associate them with Christmas. that's so cute!
