I still love this trope. I wonder if Miss Honey's tiny cottage in Matilda counts.

Intimate relationship
Intimate relationship

Meeting my partner was the most special and important moment of my life. For the first time, I'm eager for my future because I can't wait to spend it with the most beautiful, brilliant and loving person I've ever met. I never thought I would ever experience anything like this. I never thought I would love love the way I do now.

I'm a self-absorbed fool.

Papercutting
Papercutting

I'm really proud to have honed my own personal cut-paper process. I've been using papercutting techniques in all of my artwork lately. I'm currently building my thesis, which will be a sequence of short animated films, with the frames being hand-assembled from painted cut-paper.

Clock

I experience a deep, empty feeling whenever I consider my lack of reliance on physical clocks to tell the time.

Mary Jane shoes

I wear these almost every day. They're practical and look so nice with my whole wardrobe.

Birthed some of the most interesting art and film ever made.

It's definitely under tight security wherever it's currently archived, but I so badly want to physically read and hold this in my hands (very carefully).

Math freaks me out. I like when everyone, even mathematicians, agree exponents are fucking crazy.

I've been to Hampstead Heath so many times, and it never once occurred to me I was in the vicinity of the Fuck tree.

Very nice breakfast, especially with lots of fruit. Tastier, less sophisticated muesli.

Rate Your Music

I enjoy rating my music. It's actually an incredibly helpful site for me. It's very satisfying to catalogue albums and to find interesting, obscure artists that I wouldn't be able to find on Spotify, Bandcamp, etc.

Not nice. The post drink-clarity and guilt are necessary, however.

The human experience.

Soy milk

The best tasting, most nutritious, queen mother of plant milk. I used to defiantly defend oat milk as being superior, but I was wrong.

Surpasses the standard green kiwi in nearly every way.

The perfect apple. Especially in peak season, when they reach near-human-head size.

Used to enjoy, especially drunk, but now they just set my stomach on edge. I really wish smoking wasn't so attractive and cool-looking.

The most beautiful place I've been. Possibly one of the most beautiful places on earth. I've never felt so alone, small, introspective, scared and so deeply at peace all at once like I felt while walking across the cliffs here.

Truly wonderful. I've recently gone vegan and I've found that vegan pestos taste even fresher and somehow have an even more aggressively green hue. I adore Trader Joe's kale cashew pesto.

Easily one of my all-time favorite foods. It's hard to find other dishes that are this cheap and are always this delicious.

Amélie
Amélie

This is my favorite film of all time. It's basically flawless to me. I love to rewatch it whenever I'm not feeling happy, it always re-grounds me and makes me feel full of love, warmth and appreciation for my life. I went to Montemarte in Paris with my lovely partner two summers ago, and we went around to a few of the film's locations. Including the very very veryyyy touristy Cafe des Deux Moulins for americanos.

Makes roasted potatoes or squash even better. I'd like to try rosemary tea, or a blackberry rosemary gin fizz. I love to go into my mom's garden, take a fresh sprig and just enjoy the smell.

Pluot
Pluot

I have always felt a deep connection to plums and their family tree. These have a truly mysterious quality to them. Rose apriplums are pretty, but I prefer the deep, plummier wine red-flesh variety.

Phil Elverum
Phil Elverum

Phil is quite possibly the most brilliant lyricist and musician of my lifetime. The music he's produced for Mount Eerie and the Microphones is so beautiful and strikes me deeper every time I relisten to their albums. I've listened to him since I was 13. His music has undoubtedly been a foundational part of my growth as a person. Seeing him live at Union Transfer last year was a very deeply emotional experience.
