I couldn't wait to leave, but I didn't feel at home anywhere else. now that I'm here again, I drive through miles and miles of nothingness, dissociating, and I feel like I'm sleepwalking through a movie set.

when I was a small child I wanted to be a sniper or a 'scientist.' when I was 13 I wanted to be a mangaka or a game designer. I only ended up here because it was the only way I could make images and make money at the same time. I have complicated feelings about the nature of this field and its future.

for some reason the smell reminds me of my childhood, even though I don't think I used it much as a kid. I think it's because it slightly reminds me of the smell of burning rubber, which /was/ present in my childhood. I keep trying to find more uses for it, but I can't

the other day, i saw one of these writhing on the ground pathetically and i helped it stand up. when i went to sleep that day, i dreamt that i had moved to a run-down brick house somewhere in rural England. i saw 2 mice running together along one wall and 3 different creatures stuck to another wall, in a cluster, writhing perpetually: a snail, a big white tapeworm, and something else--maybe a garden snake? they were writhing in perfect rhythm with one another. i didn't feel scared or grossed out, just a little exasperated. apparently most accepted formats of dream analysis posit that dreams process the day's events through your subconscious. or something like that. my husband says this dream was about trying to process the fact that i had unknowingly (at the time) helped an invasive species. however, i just remembered eucalyptus trees (paropsis atomaria's food) are also invasive here. so where do i stand? i'll update if there's another dream. one star for cuteness factor.

I'd like to chew on one to crack it open, but I don't want to swallow any glass by accident

if I could only eat one dish every day for the rest of my life it would be ceviche, specifically the Peruvian kind. this is even accounting for the point where I would start to get tired of the flavor - even if I did, I wouldn't be able to stop eating.

smells good, but doesn't taste quite as good as perilla leaves, which are related. for some reason i'm not able to review perilla leaves right now, though.
