Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

It really could be better. They should add the ability to give your miis fishing rods so I can watch them all fish on the beach or something

getting free content at the sake of ultimate manipulation. if i had more time i'd play it more

relies a bit too heavily on its customization tools, which aren’t comprehensive enough for e.g. building creation. still good fun and compelling to return to, but could be something fantastic if there were more built-in options supplied for e.g. buildings, personality quirks, etc…

hope they add more content but you are also somewhat to blame for your own dissatisfaction if you played it for 60 hours immediately following release and got bored. tomodachi life is a long distance marathon, not a sprint.

words cannot describe how i excited i was for this game. Ive wanted to play tomodachi life since I first watched DanTDM play it on the DS, so when i watched the release trailer at a bar with my friends, I genuinely screamed. So much. Like an inappropriate amount. I replayed the demo countless times and looked at all the cutscenes I couldnt get by myself on twtter, I bought the game on release day, and since april ive grinded the game to no end: I have like, 4 islands. Ive found that the game hinges on customizability and custom creations over relying on dev content provided by Nintendo, and although it's a smart business decision, I, and basically the entire player base, got bored quick. It's sad that Nintendo thought they could save extra money by not having to pay devs to push out updates and instead gave the players the responsibility of keeping *themselves* engaged in a 60 DOLLAR GAME that people waited A DECADE FOR. The foundation of this game I think is the perfect commentary on our current economy: nostalgia-bait, soulless, cheapskate products that greedy companies pump out that make their customer base think "maybe THIS one will be good" after sinking hundreds of dollars into things that other people online have told them are "cool" and "chiq". The only escape to this is returning to the indie, I think. Theres so many cool indie games out there that are nowhere near 60 dollars and bring more content than this game ever could. I still had a lot of fun with Tomodachi Life, though, despite this long ass review. I think I shouldve pirated and emulated it instead.
