Just limited exposure because of shitty geography, but it does enable a lot of my complicated social impulses. I like to peoplewatch. If I could I would ride one for hours, maybe someday. Likely very pricey though.
11/5/2026one of my favorite patterns

11/4/2026Kinda the final frontier of human communication. This is what got me interested in that in the first place, aside from the usual philosophical stuff. Breakdown of language, image, representation... so necessary. How do you measure the amount of risk? How do you anticipate how cultural signs change? You'll make messages anyway, not knowing how effective it is. Possibly even longer to decipher the signs made than them learning how radioactivity works. Scary.
11/4/2026It's alright.
11/4/2026Gross and cool. Or warm. I guess.
11/4/2026Between this and excrement I really do feel some kind of kinship. 2026 has been the year of excess and waste and feces and rot. It's necessary, unfortunately. Or fortunately.
11/4/2026I'm always so conscious about not being able to speak Italian and missing a lot of context. Even if I have footnotes and shit. But it's great, I mean it's Western canon for god's sake. The cosmology and geography is obviously why I'm here. I should probably reread it.
11/4/2026Big fan
11/4/2026WE'RE DOOMED
11/4/2026Woah
11/4/2026Ancient manifestation of power and control. Common things that should be treated like a bomb. Needs a lot of math to work.
11/4/2026If all the cheese in the world disappeared I'd kill myself
11/4/2026I'm really good at this
11/4/2026I'm refraining from just reposting my preexisting reviews so I'm just gonna document how my perception of it shifted. My initial review was just "this blows!", listing every nitpick I had, which I still think is perfectly valid. I don't know when exactly but it was like a switch being flipped, realizing all the ambiguity actually rocked. But I still think it's kind of a compelling mediocrity. I am trying really hard to get better at writing reviews and things since I don't have actual exposure to film conventions the way a student would. But what compelled me the most is the irreconcilable rift between the film and the story, the science and the magic. I could go on for days about it really. I think what ultimately killed this is the "best COVID lockdown movie" or something tagline. Not that I care about advertising, in fact my principles are so against it. Or even the implications behind Avoiding pandemic medias, which ultimately results in people not taking public health seriously. But like... it's not exactly helping its case. Nature is a force of evil is also bad. Come on. Why are the taglines sabotaging your work!
11/4/2026it's a safety dance

11/4/2026I've watched recently but I didn't really want to go on serialized or whatever. So I was actually dreaming something like this can be made. Everyone loves to talk about S2 which is well deserved but I liked S1 too I think. Even the initial premise of simulating parenthood was daring, but I guess the aftercare of worrying too much about the kids after the Rehearsal was just as compelling. It gradually turning into a questioning of the persona and identity was intimate and strange. I think I have mentioned before some concepts of a "pilot project" where I wanted to go in depth about interpersonal relationships, communication, and social constructions of pilots. I think he's really done the ideal hypothetical show/media/thingy to do it. The real barrier is the belonging to the group, which is of course purposeful to keep the safety of the industry. Seeing how unorthodox his journey into pilothood was great, but the best part was crossing the rubicon where he ultimately denies himself his medical test results in order to keep being a pilot. He could check the results off camera or just to himself for all I care and it doesn't negate the weight of the situation. It makes total sense that That level of self-reflexivity would gravitate towards communities like aviation. The desire to maintain composure and all that. Unforgettable and possibly cannot ever be repeated.
