As a former album nut I'm making an effort to listen to more songs that are exceptionally good for their album/artist. This is paradigmatic for me, what a tune and he never recorded anything that comes anywhere close
11/5/2026When smartphones first came out the app was an endless field of possibility... you could have an app for drinking beer, doodle jumping, tom the cat. but now apps are mandatory for loads of shit that doesnt actually need an app, theyre all the same, and theyre garbo
11/5/2026Probably the biggest craving I haven't fulfilled in years. I think I might not have had a beignet as an adult EVER and it was one of my favourite foods as a child :'(
11/5/2026too conflicted to rate this right now. i think a lot of people think of me as big wine person cause i do spend more money on it and read about it more than the average person. but i'm definitely in the bottom quintile of wine nerds. it's truly a beautiful beverage don't get me wrong but i'm really not sure if the alcohol is worth it? i like getting tipsy sometimes but i don't love the feeling i get sometimes that i need to drink to get through a social interaction. haven't had a drink in four weeks because i'm worried about how it would make me feel with my current health problems. so it's a complicated relationship because on the one hand i miss the delicious layers of complexity of a good glass of a wine i love but on the other hand is it just because wine has this culture of intense attention that i feel this way? is there something intrinsic about lemonade or apple juice that means i couldn't enjoy them just as deeply if i tried?
11/5/2026 · 1 commentAll joking aside the wikipedia article for this is somehow one of the most compellingly constructed and most outrageously biased that I've ever read. When they wrote "There is also controversy over both the beginning and the end of Wagner's life" they must have been jubilant, like this guy was literally controversial from the cradle to the grave!! He was not consensual for a single minute of his life! But with regards to the bias if I actually gave a shit I would be trying to edit this bloody article. Look at the last paragraph in the "Antisemitism" section. It begins with "Despite his published views on Jewishness, Wagner maintained Jewish friends", and the ONLY example it gives is of Hermann Levi, and "Wagner was quoted as saying Levi should be baptized before conducting Parsifal". Like surely after typing that out, you would have to either find a second example or rewrite the paragraph's opening sentence...
11/5/2026I used to be all-in on autumn and summer, but as I've grown older and happier I've started loving all the seasons more equally. I'm not having as good an autumn as I would like right now but it's not autumn's fault. When people say "oh you only like staying inside and putting the heating on, that's AVOIDING autumn" girl did you just reify the nature/culture distinction?? What in the donna haraway are we doing. Like jordan peterson said, the climate is everything. I wouldn't get to be cozy if it wasn't for the cold! So yes, I do in fact love autumn
11/5/2026 · 1 commentthe difficulty-to-efficacy ratio of just letting the flavours mingle for hours in unmatched. all you have to do is not leave the house and wander into the kitchen every hour or so -- I was going to do that anyway!! and I love any food you can eat with loads of bread (so long as you can get good bread)
11/5/2026like consulting, unfairly maligned. all they're doing is messing about on the margins of capital, trying to squeeze a little extra juice out of the boom-bust cycles (& admittedly worsening the effects thereof). it speaks to the liberal middle-class resentment underpinning certain brands of progressive politics that financial firms would be the focus of antagonism as opposed to capital itself
11/5/2026I like the spatial metaphors we use when talking about the internet. You "visit" a website but when you do you're "on" the website, not "in" it. It used to be that every website held the potential for wonder... not so much these days
11/5/2026Was killing time in the National Gallery the other day and I'd straight up forgotten The Ambassadors is there. I just turned the corner and there it was. It's UNBELIEVABLE. When I was in school I hated how the teachers would pull up photos of this shit in every fucking class on the renaissance. But good golly when you see these two lads in the flesh... it just does something to you
11/5/2026Completely outdated. One of the concepts that rots people's thinking from the inside out.
11/5/2026My wisdom tooth was keeping me up last night so i took one of these... kinda crazy how well it worked, it perfectly transferred all of the pain from my tooth to my tummy
