the only reason i have this app is that it's gen z's facebook. like a digital id card you use to show people you're a real and normal person. it has very few unique qualities as a platform-- first it copied foursquare, then vine, then snapchat, then tiktok, then twitter.

embraces the corporate aesthetic. has captured special moments before but the ever-evolving algorithm gives it identity issues that make it tough to avoid being served slop.

we're in an on-and-off-again relationship with no hard feelings. best used grudgingly. i get that its prose is tired, but i love many of its platform functionalities: tags, profile customization, built-in ask boxes, etc. it's the only major socmed i can think of with no automatic "read more" cut, which is nice as a poster and terrible as a scroller. i always disliked the way side blogs work. good place for smaller communities that don't need to be private.

i can stop any time

for better or for worse, shaped me
