4redrockriviera's latest · 2026-11-07★★★happened to me earlier this year when i tripped over my baggy ass pants as i was getting off the bus. i was on my way to run some errands and i was too stubborn to head back home even though it really hurt to walk. i did what i needed to do and i ended up taking a break at a mary brown’s, slightly panicked, considering taking an uber back home because i couldn’t place any weight on my foot. in the end i got myself to walk to the bus stop but i swear to god i was whimpering out loud with each step. i spent the rest of the day on the couch in so much pain i was worried i’d have to take myself to the hospital the next day. turns out if you put extra strain on your injury it makes it hurt more, duh. but i have to admit, it was undeniably exciting to push myself through the pain, grit my teeth and ignore my brain going icanticanticant. and limping is kind of aura honestly.

5redrockriviera's latest · 2026-11-07★★after my car accident, the road rash on my wrists and knuckles was the worst source of pain. especially at night, in darkness and silence, with no other stimuli to focus on than the air brushing against raw skin. i couldn’t sleep. i didn’t know how to hold my hands to avoid the worst of it. dull pain, like that of my fractured pelvis, can be quite pleasant, but this was sharp and loud and really hard to tune out. eight years later, all of the resulting light scarring has faded, which is kind of a shame.

7redrockriviera's latest · 2026-11-07★now tell me why did my bottom left wisdom tooth decide to torture me for a couple weeks earlier this year only to stop on its own, without any intervention or anything. it was really driving me crazy. and when you try to soothe the pain with an ice pack, the cold hurts a bit at first as well. there’s a hint of pleasure to be found in this pain but only through complaining about it
