my slightly longer logs about cat stories from all over the world. I stole everything from wikipedia these are just short summaries. I'm proud of all of them! Always a work in progress (if you see the word mouser anywhere, it means a cat whose official job is catching mice!)
- Simon (cat)
iloveshoebill's latest · 2026-11-06What a tale this cat has. A sailor found this poor, bedraggled year-old stray cat and decided to smuggle him onto his ship, the HMS Amethyst (a sloop of the royal navy). Little Simon was so hungry he went around and caught every rat he saw, making him the sloops good and reliable mouser! The crew didn't mind and kept him on board, since he was cute AND useful. He was also seen as a sign of good luck, despite being black in colour!!! The ship's commander left and decided not to take Simon away. When the new commander (his name is skinner) came, he immediately fell in love with Simon, and they turned into the bestest of friends. But during their first mission together in the Yangtze River, the Chinese PLA launched an attack on HMS Amethyst and absolutely ruined the first cabin. (you can read more about this on the amethyst incident wiki page!) Skinner didn't survive but Simon sure did, albeit not without a bunch of wounds and burns. The medical team tried treating him but they didn't expect him to make it. Well guess what they were WRONG!!!! Simon kept controlling the ship's rat population even after the attack. He proved to be good company for the crew too cuz he's so adorable. When the HMS Amethyst finally escaped the Yangtze, the entirety of British celebrated. Thousands of letters were sent to him and a lieutenant was appointed to become his servant!!! Not even six months later, young Simon fell ill due to his wounds and died in honour. Every member of the Amethyst's crew was there for his funeral. His gravestone is at Ilford Animal Cemetery and will be there til the end of time... He was given three medals and the rank of an able seaman (he managed to kill a particularly nasty rat that fucked the food supply up. it's name was mao tse-tung. like The guy you know him). The 1950 novel Jennie is also dedicated to Simon, it's about a young boy who gets kicked out of his house and is raised by a nice sweet stray cat. Thank you Simon you should've lived longer to see the whole world. You should've been adopted. You should've been able to feel the warmth of the indoors and play with yarn and purr in your owner's lap

Oscar was adopted into a rehabilitation centre for people with neurodegenerative (bad for brain) diseases alongside six other kitties. He isn't actually an extremely friendly cat and is described as aloof (don't be mean!). Everytime he sleeps next to patients, they die in the next few hours, and he stays until it happens. He's predicted above 100 deaths over his lifespan and has never been wrong. It's a nice way to go. Having a cat near you would make death feel less lonely. It can't speak any soothing words but it wants to help in its own way. Oscar is an angel of warmth. I doubt that it was all a coincidence, he definitely wanted to comfort people before they went. Neurodegenerative diseases can cause loss of consciousness in their final stages but i hope his presence was felt. He met his own peace on 2/22/22 and was 17 years old. He was accompanied by the staff, just like how he accompanied the ill those one hundred times. Hopefully his last nap was easy for him. He shows up in pop culture a lot and even has his own children's book (oscar the guardian cat). Thank you oscar i love you

Dusty dusty dusty you're such a silly kitty!!! One of my favourites for sure!!! Must be hard living in the same area as him! You can probably guess what he does from his title. Dusty is an absolute kleptomaniac, it's in his blood and it's all he thinks about! He loves sneaking out at night, but he doesn't spend his time reclaiming his territory or hooking up with streetcats. His idea of fun is breaking into people's properties and stealing all their belongings (which is like, way worse!) He's stolen a grand total of more than 600 items and his highest score in a day was 11! It all started in 2008 when he was 2 years old. His owners were noticing a bunch of trinkets in their house that they hadn't even bought before (plus they were in weird spots where they shouldn't have been). So like any normal people they thought "Is my cat secretly a thief???" The answer is yes The full list of thingamabobs that he's stolen (as of february 2011, i ripped this right off the wikipedia page) is: [𝟭𝟲 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝘀, 𝟳 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝟮𝟭𝟯 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹𝘀, 𝟳 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗵𝘀, 𝟱 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹𝘀, 𝟭𝟴 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗲𝘀, 𝟳𝟯 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀, 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝟭 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀, 𝟯 𝗮𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝟰𝟬 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝟰 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝟭 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿, 𝟲 𝗿𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝘆𝘀, 𝟭 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝘁, 𝟯 𝗹𝗲𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝟮 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗯𝗲𝗲𝘀, 𝟭 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝟭 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗸, 𝟮 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀, 𝟭 𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝟭 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝟴 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟴 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 "𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀" 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀]. He's stolen a girl's bra before, too.......!!! It seems he loves dish towels the most Also, he's a very beautiful siamese cat, the kind with the brown fur. Take a look at him please! His facebook page is @DustyTheKleptoKitty. Klepto Kitty's spree ended in 2023, when he was 17 years old. Go steal from heaven's gardens now, kitty!!! Haha this was longer than i thought sorry i just love dusty
2 entries - Scarlett (cat)
iloveshoebill's latest · 2026-11-06★★★★★Brave strong mother. Scarlett saved her five kittens from a fire, pulling them out one by one. After all of them were saved, she collapsed, and a firefighter immediately took the kitties to the vet. One was too weak and sadly didn't make it, but the others were nice and healthy. Scarlett and her kittens were adopted (although separated), and she lived to the age of 13. An award was made specifically for her ♡ Her kittens were adopted in pairs. Cinders and Oreo (both males) were in Miller Place. Tanuki (male) and Samsara (female) were in Port Washington. Tanuki succumbed to cancer at 12 years old while the others passed naturally (they should've been around 12-18)
- Lewis (cat)
iloveshoebill's latest · 2026-11-06★★★★★lewis was a real aggressive kitty. So aggressive that his owner, Cisero was given a restraining order. Lewis had to be put on house arrest, but no matter what she did she just couldn't seem to keep him inside. Cisero was then arrested and allowed to be put on probation, but ONLY if Lewis were euthanized. Cisero obviously refused and went to trial cuz who in the right mind would agree to that. Blablabla law stuff probation is changed, Lewis still has to stay inside, two years later the charges are expunged case dismissed Yay for Lewis Apparently, Lewis could've just been defending himself. He'd been egged and sprayed by the neighbourhoods residents. Like, full on chicken egg and garden hose action. How could anyone do this to a kitty. Fun fact, he's also a polydactyl and has extra toes! Edit omg im only realizing now autocorrect changed her name to cerise eveyrtime it's actually cisero LMAO fixed it
- Tama (cat)iloveshoebill's latest · 2026-11-07
Sweet angel Tama!!!! A more well-known one I'd say! Look at how cute her face is! Tama was one of many stray kitties who were regularly fed by locals (and by the informal station master) at the Kishigawa Railway Line on Kishi Station, Wakayama. Her mother is named Miiko and her sister is named Chibi. At some point, all of them were kicked out to make space for new roads..... The station master begged and begged the railway's president to let them back in, and he Agreed!!! Tama's appearance resembled a maneki-neko and was seen as a good luck charm, so they allowed her and the other cats to stay. Her duties as a station master began in 2007, with Miiko and Chibi as her assistants. A cute uniform was given to her and she was paid in cat food. Her job was simple, she just had to sit there and bless the passengers with her presence. Didn't even have to meow at all of them or anything! But everyone LOVED IT. Tama singlehandedly boosted the monthly ridership (amount of passengers) by 17%, and the yearly amount was up 10%! At the end of the year, she was granted an award for being the best station runner, with the prize of a new cat toy and a yummy crab slice. Over the years, she was granted the rank of super station master (equivalent to a superintendent) and the title "Wakayema de Knight". She was then an operating officer, then a managing executive officer, and finally ended up becoming the Honorary President of Kishigawa Line for life in 2013!!! She was given her very own station building and a Tama-themed train was built in her honour! Tama's publicity had garnered a total of over one billion yen (7K USD) towards the local economy! Unfortunately, cats don't live as long as humans. On 22/6/2015, a 16-year-old Tama suffered from apparent heart failure and passed away at the hospital. Thousands of people from every part of Japan attended her funeral (it was done according to shinto beliefs, where the spirit is purified!). Her memorial was built using stones from the Kishi River, the place where Tama was born. A plaque and bronze statue were made for her in a shrine next to the station called Tama Jinja. Her spirit is known as Tama Daimyōjin (daimyojin is an honorific title for spirits. it means something along the lines of "great shining deity tama"). Every year on the 23rd of June, the Kishigawa staff present offerings to the shrine. Five years before her death, Miiko passed away and Chibi went missing (they were both 10 years old at the time, i can't find much information about it). Five cats still carry out Tama I's legacy at Kishigawa Line, all of them calicos just like her (they aren't her kittens, though)! Their names are 𝗡𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗮 (𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗜𝗜, 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟮), 𝗬𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗮 (𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗜𝗩, 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟳), 𝗚𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗮 (𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗩, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗸𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗮 (𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗩𝗜, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲). The years are when they were appointed as station masters. The third Tama, Sun-tama-tama (also known as Santama) actually works as a station master at Naka-ku Station in Okayama! She was supposed to come to Kishi Station, but her owners were too attached to her and didn't allow it. Tama II passed last year at the age of 15, but the other Tamas are still working to this day. They visit Tama I's shrine on her anniversary :) Thank you Tama!!!
