Musique concrète

lots of unrealized potential. there is exactly 1 good piece by pierre schaefer ("etude aux tourniquets") and luc ferrari has got some good stuff. the ones who make a kind of floating theater out of spoken word field recordings with a very mild and sly sense of humor (ferrari and dumas are the two that im thinking about) are the better part of the stuff people talk about online. past there things get really scant. lambkin is cloying. stockhausen is really uptight there's a guy "henri chopin" that does very good and very funny work, and an australian "jack ellitt" who is also extremely worth looking into. the main problem is that the large majority of this music is trying to create a foreboding disembodied feeling with their sounds, and it always ends up very boring... musique concrete is at its best when it is funny and startling
