Kowloon Walled City

I have a sort of l’appel du vide towards wanting to live somewhere like this

i never lived in the walled city (it was torn down before my birth) but for the first 18 years of my life i lived nearby. it's a park now with a cycling path & little museum to commemorate its past. always been fascinated by it, how it grew like an organism, how it inspired art, games, etc & how it functioned despite chaos and smells. very cybernetic, a place that feels like it shouldn't have existed. wish there was more video footage of it. have to be careful not to romanticize it tho. my mother tells stories about going there for cheap, delicious (and unsafe) food & dentist appointments

Cool as shit but I feel really bad for the guys who lived here

definitely terrible to have lived in but from a purely vibes perspective it doesn't get much better than this
