When I was a kid I had OCD surrounding natural disasters and I was so afraid of tornadoes especially that I could not sleep and developed insomnia and didn't sleep for multiple days began hallucinating etc. My mom finally calmed me down once during a thunderstorm at bedtime by telling me that tornadoes form due to the difference in air temperature inside and outside the funnel (true) and that during a thunderstorm, with all the rain and stuff, it was physically impossible for the right temperature conditions for a tornado to exist (not true at all). My logical kid brain actually wrapped itself around this and took it for fact, and I was able to sleep for the first night in many days. My OCD has since gotten a lot better but since that moment for the rest of my life I am always comforted during a thunderstorm and find it very easy to sleep.
