maybe i'll use this to rant about dumb people / something i've noticed so often on the topic of self harm is the rhetoric that self harm as an attention seeking behavior is inherently lesser than self harm as an expression, when they are hand in hand. humans are social animals, its why we live in groups typically and why many of us grow depressive in isolation. attention is such an important part of social behaviors, to pay attention to ones suffering is an important part of treatment, to notice it even more so. self harm as a way of attention seeking behavior is incredibly common, and to invalidate someone's struggle by essentially saying the way they suffer is lesser is reductive of mental health, the human condition, and self harm as a whole. but usually the people making these takes are maybe 14 at most, so i wouldn't pay too much attention to it.
