"URETHRA!" Why do we know the things we know? In short, experience. Day after day, we accumulate knowledge upon knowledge, soaking up a veritable library of information. Here's the rub - the information isn't always connected. You may learn something, and instead of immediately slotting that fact into the annals of your mind, you are left fumbling with it, trying desperately to fit a puzzle piece into the world's largest puzzle. And let's just say, it's not a corner piece. There is the typical approach to this conundrum; the long, hard, but ultimately rewarding process of rumination. You take this information, and you sit with it, carefully analyzing its facets, figuring out exactly how it factors in to the grander web of connections in your mind. "What relevance could this fish have," you may think for instance - before recalling that fish are actually native to the saltwater you are observing. But sometimes rumination doesn't cut it. Often, this defeat is ultimate. But in this midnight hour, in this time of crisis, out of nowhere descends a single, blinding, light: epiphany. The aleatoric nature of this feeling is why it only ranks a 3.5; no human has control over epiphany, it comes and goes as it pleases. Not only this, but it dispenses knowledge with impunity. You could have an epiphany that sorts your life completely, or epiphany could strike and leave you paralyzed with the weight of truth. It can be cruel, and it is by its very nature wild and unshackled, but epiphany is surely something to be revered.
