hmmmmm for my next trick I will set architecture and city planning back centuries... but what next? maybe shitting myself again...
11/5/2026Wikipedia has it on their list and the music video is about a traffic collision due to drunk driving. But it is NOT textual in the song, and I simply don't care for it.
11/4/2026Ok if Billy Yates' wife died of a traffic collision I feel bad for him BUT wah wah wah I drove drunk and my wife told me not to and then it killed her. I don't feel bad for you dude especially if you weren't getting her flowers while she was alive. get real.
11/4/2026 · 1 commentSometimes she makes bad songs - drinkin and drivin, overdose and dyin' does somewhat trivialise the danger of drinking and driving, I would argue. Also what a 2012 song, "take me to the Hamptons, Bugatti Veyron". We're just saying Bugatti Veyron now?
11/4/2026OH a fifth is 750ml? That's way more than I thought. But the song is kinda riding Dido's coattails so
11/4/2026It's catchy, though it does shy away from the actual experience. Withdrawals mentioned, but that's about it, and the sceptical drunk driver could simply interpret that as withdrawal from his loved one.
11/4/2026Unfortunately you do have to hand it to him, "I was drinking earlier, now I'm driving" is simply sterling work.
11/4/2026Just a classic, somewhat open to interpretation as "Drove her to the pad and I'm coastin' Took another sip of the potion, hit the three-wheel motion" does indicate that Ice Cube could in fact simply be drinking a witch's brew, or Getafix's strength granting serum, but I would argue these may also count as "the influence".
11/4/2026Great song, of course, but also the latter half would be PERFECT to put your foot to the floor. Shout out to "call me again, drunk in your benz, driving home under the influence". A perfect haiku really, we get a specific manufacturer for those who wish to recreate the experience, we get explicit confirmation that the benz is not simply stationary AND the person in question is not only endangering themselves and others by drinking and driving, they are also calling someone at the same time!
11/4/2026More of an indica drive than a sativa, good for cruising or of course for the traditionalists, drinking scotch whiskey all night long. Acknowledges the dangers of drunk driving ("and die behind the wheel") but also makes it sound very cool, so its hard to say whether the song picks a side.
