I saw this on trending and was thinking about my collection. Was talking to my friend about wearing one around two weeks ago (idk, long story, agnostic, being raised religious is a weird paradox) and she said it would be insulting to practicing Christians. Hmmm… I feel like having a complicated relationship with religion doesn't necessarily mean you have to abandon all its symbolism, especially when it's something you grew up with. Besides, I think they're pretty and they bring me solace

I think what I love most about Sentimental Value is how beautifully it understands the things that shape our fingerprint on the world, whether we want these events to take ahold of us or not. The idea of a home remaining stationary, and all the love, grief and ordinary moments left behind, makes me want to cry. Such a tender film about requited and unrequited familial love (really, all forms of love), the toll it can take on us, and all the things we struggle to say to one another. Will forever be a top film of mine, I knew it the minute it was over
