Self-harm
Self-harm

Review bygodknows2026-11-07

i watched a porn video today featuring a man who had a significant number of self harm scars on his body. it was something i immediately noticed because i don’t think i’ve ever seen someone with that many visible scars in porn before. what struck me wasn’t necessarily the scars themselves, but how little they seemed to matter in the context of the video. he was simply there, experiencing pleasure, existing in his body, without his scars becoming the defining feature of the experience. i’ve never fully understood the stigma surrounding scars. i think there’s an expectation that scars, particularly self-harm scars, are something that should make people uncomfortable, something that needs to be hidden or explained. there’s an unspoken idea that they make someone less attractive, less desirable, or somehow less worthy of being seen. i’ve always found that attitude strange. why should something that happened to someone’s body change the way we perceive their entire existence? i have some self-harm scars on my own arm, and, honestly, they don’t occupy nearly as much space in my mind as people might expect. i live with them. they’re part of my body, and i don’t spend every waking moment thinking about them or wishing they weren’t there. that doesn’t mean i have some profound acceptance of everything that has happened to me, or that i think everyone should feel the same way. it just means that, in my own experience, they have become something i coexist with. and maybe that’s where i recognize a certain privilege in my perspective. i can say that my scars don’t particularly affect me, but i know that isn’t everyone’s experience. some people have to navigate judgment, unwanted questions, uncomfortable looks, and the feeling that they need to cover parts of themselves to make other people comfortable. i don’t want to dismiss that by presenting my own experience as universal. i think what stayed with me was the simple reminder that a body doesn’t stop being worthy of admiration, affection, pleasure, or visibility because it carries evidence of something difficult. scars don’t have to be the first thing someone sees, and they certainly don’t have to be the only thing someone sees. people are allowed to exist beyond the things that have happened to them. perhaps i’m overthinking a relatively ordinary experience, but i wish we were more comfortable allowing people to have bodies that tell stories without demanding that they explain every chapter
