Austrocedrus is a very nice looking tree. It makes the most northern-hemisphere looking forests on the southern hemisphere probably. A very nice cedar. It grows on mountainsides far from its cousins.

The most northern-looking podocarp. Very beatiful and cute. And a nice bonus on the Valdivian forests. It makes you appreciate podocarps more.

A very friendly tree that everybody loves! The portuguese settlers described originally seeing a "dark jungle" of these, with giant trees that blocked the sun completely. Now only fragments of this forest, on sandy, nutrient poor soil remains. Sad

Underrated. Look at it in the mist. A beautiful tree, it feels a bit more north american than most east asian conifers. But its a bit more tidy. Very nice!

A humble tree. Southernmost conifer. Small but tough. A dark tree that would do anything to survive... Pointy, structural... Its niche but I love this tree. Its the perfect tree to exist in the edge of the world. The wind twists and warps it, makes it look wise, smarter than humans. I have been a fan of this tree for a long time.
