i sincerely think it's overhyped just because it's the only version of fma most people have seen. it cuts a lot of content from the manga (like cutting the second arc and condensing the ishval war flashback arc into a single episode), and the first episode is filler that wasn't even in the manga. i don't think it's bad by any means but it's definitely my least favorite version of the story
