Blue-winged teal

For this reason is it called metzcanauhtli: on its face it is decorated with white feathers like the [crescent] moon. On the crown of its head its feathers are ashen; its breast, back, tail are all ashen, resembling a quail. Its wing feathers are of three kinds. The upper coverts are pale blue; those lying in second place white; those lying in third place green, resembling quetzal feathers. The tips of its wings are black; its axilla white; its legs yellow, small and wide. It does not rear its young here; it also migrates. Its flesh is edible.
