My colleague loves these funky little freaks. I disprefer them, personally. I don't like the idea of them being close to me. Or on me. But I recognize they are an incredibly diverse category of creature. Apparently they are incredibly under-studied proportional to how much there is to learn about them. They probably know a lot of things we don't.
11/4/2026The god of nontheism arrived at the party at the pantheon two hours late and high on datura. She spent the evening trying to find her cigarette in the couch cushions. She does not smoke. The god of nontheism is neither omnipotent, omnipresent, nor omnibenevolent. Nobody believes in her, not even herself. As for powers, she can correctly distinguish between light and dark 50% of the time, in laboratory conditions. If you pray to the god of nontheism, she will only answer to say "the number you have dialed is out of service." I stayed on the line once, anyway. She eventually continued, "you can't keep calling nobody." "But you're somebody" I said "But so are you," she retorted, "why don't you leave me alone and call yourself?" "I did, that's why I'm talking to you." A scoff. "A bit pretentions of you to imply you're god, no?" "Wouldn't be the worst way that word is misused. Some people use it to mean "everything." And aren't we a part of everything?" "Everything is made of parts that aren't everything. That's kinda the whole point." We sat on the line in silence, listening to the comfort noise together like the babbling of a river. "Do you happen to know what 'umpsquamadic' means? It's in the crossword I'm doing." "I was about to ask you the same question."
11/4/2026Beautiful elegant creatures. They got 'em right pretty quickly. Evolutionary, they're older than trees, and they've been thriving ever since. I hope we can stop poaching them so aggressively so they can continue to thrive. I hope they outlive us. I hope they outlive trees.
11/4/2026Great, if a little glitchy sometimes. I've spent many hours inside the walls of this establishment, throwing down fills and strokes like some cyber chick Jackson Pollock. Cyber chic. A crude vector drawing of sunglasses descend upon my digital face.
11/4/2026Microwave popcorn is such a cute detail of our world. It's a shelf-stable snack that is sold in a form factor that more resembles a small booklet than anything else you'd find in a pantry. To prepare, you place it inside a special "reheater" box in your home whose historical lineage comes directly from the radiodetermination technology of a "World War" that killed tens of millions. The second world war, to be clear. The small paper envelope of kernels expands in the space of two minutes to become a bagful of white, fluffy, buttery popcorn. Then you eat it. It is also associated with movies.
11/4/2026Threw an empty can of beer at mom. It was dealcoholized, didn't even notice when we started switching them out. Yelling at neighbour kids for doing things they never did. Thrown into fits of rage over nothing. Nothing at all. Turning the funniest person in the family into a invective shell of a man in just a few short years. Very efficient at wiping away the spark of life within a person. 0.5 stars, "I forgot." Ha ha ha. You forgot yourself. There was no you to remember yourself, at the end. Other people have to remember you, on your behalf. Death works the same way.
11/4/2026Go to a weird lefty hackerspace if you want to meet the good ones.
11/4/2026Really fun if you love nerds. And I LOVE nerds.
11/4/2026we should heed martin's warning and lock them out of the buliding
11/4/2026What's even the point of sex otherwise?
11/4/2026It's great to be able to walk to places. You don't need gas or a ticket or anything. I'd recommend slathering your tootsies with ointment to minimize the damage long walks might have on your poor dogs.
11/4/2026Best relegated to a niche hobby, where I'm sure it would thrive on weekends and holidays on racetracks and closed courses. But at this time they are EVERYWHERE stinking up the place with their exhaust and brake dust and revving. Such noisy boys. It's like living in a world where ren faire people staffed every business you could conceivably think of. Like yeah, maybe society would continue to function, but after a certain point I'd snap.
11/4/2026Best form of media, hands down.
11/4/2026MISS YOU
11/4/2026I wish I worked there in the 1970s. There was probably such peace to writing C code for Unix before barely anyone used it. Like prancing through a field before the concrete trucks come in to lay down the foundation for data centre #294,394,870. Also the office building was the setting of the hit television show Severance which you can watch RIGHT NOW on Apple Maps.
11/4/2026Just a quick shout-out.
11/4/2026Please stop placing them on my body.
11/4/2026Beginner loadout is terrible but once you get good and develop your combo chains then it's pretty rewarding. Sometimes you get matched up with people who are on a completely different level than you and when you win against them it's like a million bucks. I don't really want to say "get gud" because, yeah, the beginner experience could be WAY better. But when you're good, it's good. Same thing with phone calls.
11/4/2026I'm rating the perfect pretty version of him in my head. My blorbo. I could've fixed all of his flaws if I'd been given the chance. We're separated by too far a distance in spacetime I'm afraid. We could've discussed the merits and detriments of symmetry in his formulation of twelve pure conceptual categories while I get my ears pierced at Claire's. I'd need him there with me for the emotional support. But he's not here so my ears remain unpierced. Miss you boo
11/4/2026I think we should be allowed to leave but I'm not torn up about it.
11/4/2026What is this, a library? I think it would be cuter if they had normal lungs and inhaled and exhaled visibily making little wheezy noises.
11/4/2026Horrible horrible drug. I've never taken it, to be clear. I'm a strict tee-totaller. I'm a pathetic whimp. But I have read nearly every datura trip report on erowid. So I'm basically an expert. I'm like mary from mary's room. You know that one thought experiment? They have her in a black-and-white enclosure her whole life, but she gets to study colour perception—which she developes a complete and total understanding of. Does she learn something new, when shown red for the first time? The "what it's like" of red. Is that new knowledge? The flower is pretty so that gives a +½ star.
11/4/2026It would be interesting if they gave us any insights into language itself. But no, that's not the point. Don't forget that LLMs don't come from the tradition of linguistics. They come from NLP, which as a field of computer science was largely focused on analyzing sentiment of millions of twitter posts for the purposes of optimizing customer engagement or pressing one's thumb on the scales of democracy. It's all coercive SEO bullshit.
11/4/2026I drink this stuff every day. It's really excellent if you've somehow managed to fool your senses into perceiving the slight sour taste as sweetness. Then it is a perfect little sweet treat to beat the midday heat. Mmmm, ahhh...
11/4/2026I'm against hierarchy in all its forms but WE DA BEST BAYEBE WOOO
11/4/2026I want to live in the universe where this is what video gaming is.
11/4/2026Changed the game. Made that part of life worth living.
11/4/2026I think we try our best. It's hard to think of another city that has the same vibe as Toronto. Every time a homeless person has come up to talk to me, we end up hugging. The tagging scene goes hard. There are so many beautiful trans people here. People live their whole lives in this place. Some of the beauty of living must rub off, somehow. Stay away from the CN tower, that area is a bit of a tourist deadzone.
