Would already be a 4/5 if the only thing it did was enable combustion reactions, but having so many other properties due to its electronegativity pushes it to GOAT territory. The ground you stand on? Yup, it's made of oxides.
11/4/2026The King of Chemicals for a reason.
11/4/2026Necessary evil
11/4/2026A marvel of modern technology, though more as a curiosity than actually being game-changing. Silver isn't cheap, you know!
11/4/2026Wasted one of the coolest names ever on this useless ass shit.
11/4/2026A bit absurd how particular these things are, though most of that is downstream of the bottle being made of disposable plastic. But, I’m sure we’re all familiar with that weird plasticy taste that these things are prone to having. Still useful, especially when you know you’re finishing the water bottle quickly, but can get a bit frustrating, both on an individual basis and in terms of their environmental ramifications.
11/4/2026Really satisfying (and fitting!) name for what it does.
11/4/2026Endlessly fascinating. You could probably teach a whole semester just about the different variants of steels and their properties, based on their crystal structure, C%, presence of other alloying metals that can either serve as stabilizers forcing the steel to follow a certain crystal lattice or as lattice anchors forming carbides with the carbon more easily. It’s a world that’s super easy to get lost in, almost akin to trading cards due to all their similarities in structure while the minute differences make up most of the varying properties we see. Bonus points for actually genuinely being so ubiquitous in everyday life, unlike many other metallurgical interests (intermetallics, mainly).
11/4/2026Very, very few things in life more worthless than middle managers.
11/4/2026A bit obtuse, owing to both chữ Nôm and chữ Quốc ngữ both being sort of a trying to fit a round peg into a square hole situation. Both Khmer and Mon, also of the Austroasiatic language family, have their own scripts that much better suit their needs; Vietnam was just handicapped by being subject to many a force of imperialism. Shame!
11/4/2026Yeah it's attached at the hip to Adobe which is one of the worst companies ever, yeah it's insanely dense, incomprehensible, and impenetrable at a glance, but at the end of the day, there's nothing else that can quite match what it does. One-stop shop for any kind of editing, whether making animations or applying effects to live footage. I even use it to edit images sometimes...
11/4/2026You are so annoying.
11/4/2026No seriously how do you let that happen. 4/10 (2 stars) in solidarity
11/3/2026A bit oversaturated at this point, but has as good of highs as any other instrument.
11/3/2026What can’t it do?
11/3/2026Simply one of the greatest ever.
11/3/2026It’s an acquired taste to be sure, but it’s one of the most satisfying vegetables to chew ever, a bit tough at first but rips apart with a tiny bit more force than usual. Extremely unique taste profile too, nothing else quite like it.
11/3/2026A bit pointless at the end of the day, but I have a lot of fun doing it.
11/3/2026It should've been Matt Walsh.
11/3/2026Quite a bit overhated amongst academics. Fascinating how such a vast and strange array of molecules can follow such intuitive and simple rules, with a great naming system to boot. Who doesn't love saying polytetrafluoroethylene?
