humanity cannot apply reason to the entirety of an infinite universe within its finite lifespan, but it's still fun to try, so we should. Here is my rating system. I don't always lay it out, or adhere to it, but it's a good metric for when I am unsure. https://pastebin.com/WyNPphAG

ESSENTIA - 1 - This game has very little sociological impact. If Hotel Mario disappeared tomorrow, very little would change outside of niche internet spheres. GLORIA - 3.5 - But they're MY niche internet spheres!!! This game's cutscenes have made me laugh and smile many, many, many times. But the game itself is really unpleasant to play. I think it evens out. CRUCIA - 3.5 - I don't think this game has ever hurt anyone, but it definitely hasn't healed anyone. CULTIVAR - 4 - I adore all of the art that sprung from this game. I know calling Youtube Poop video edits "art" is odd, but they are! They're improvised, referential comedy sketches, and ones that were formative to me. AWE - 2.5 - It really is impressive that they let this game exist.
11/3/2026Evolutionarily, I've always struggled to see where nationalism originated. "Us VS Them" builds a community, and communities survive in a Darwinist system, that's true! But by the time humanity began building nations, this mindset was obsolete. It makes me wonder who the first guy to be a stuck-up asshole about being from somewhere was. ESSENTIA - 3 - Most nations have a strong political identity, and nations are a prevalent part of modern human life. We would live very differently, if we did not subscribe to nationalism. GLORIA - 2 - I dislike my country's leadership, broadly! I also think nationalism is annoying at best and horrifically dangerous at worst. CRUCIA - 2 - Nationalism is the cause of or scapegoat for most large-scale human atrocities. It is not inherently a harmful thing, but it seems to always lead to harm. CULTIVAR - 2 - I think I can count the amount of times I've been motivated to do something "for the nation" on one hand. AWE - 3.5 - It isn't uncommon throughout history and in the modern day for those without aim or motive to apply themselves to their country, and do incredible and terrible things. It is impressive, but it is difficult to quantify what is for their nation and what is for their faith, family, friends, political values, etc etc.
11/3/2026It's easy to abstract electricity as something exterior to the human experience. Relative to the entire history of academic study, the application of electricity in technology is fairly recent! But electricity has been part of humanity, and indeed most fauna, since its inception as part of your nervous system. It wouldn't be inappropriate to say that you *are* electricity, defining your self as the impulses travelling from your brain to your body and causing actions that impact your world. This being said, electricity is famously dangerous! Over the past 20 years, over 2,500 people have died from electrocution in industrial scenarios alone. Over 100 people have died from lightning strikes, and lightning does not strike people often! Nonetheless, I think its impact is impossible to deny. We need electricity to exist, so it being dangerous to us isn't really a factor. If we removed electricity, we wouldn't improve the death rate, because we'd all be inert. ESSENTIA - 5 - You cannot live without it. GLORIA - 4 - Arousing in small amounts. CRUCIA - 3 - For a natural phenomenon, it really isn't that common for it to kill somebody. CULTIVAR - 4 - Lightning is, to pardon, very striking, and it is a common point of metaphor in art. AWE - 4 - If you've seen lightning strike nearby, you felt the world stop for a moment.
