Was rude to me?

American robin
American robin

She's iconic but she's not even a Robin she's a thrush.

Ocean sunfish
Ocean sunfish

Everyone's mean to her and for what reason? She's perfect and I'll take no slander.

Northern cassowary
Northern cassowary

I really don't think I'd last against this in battle. Afraid.

Somali ostrich
Somali ostrich

Scared of it.

Barred owl
Barred owl

The Barred Owl isn't really helping the "Who/Hoo" jokes of owls here as it quite literally asks "Who cooks for you?" all the time.

Green heron
Green heron

He's not very green now is he.

Red-bellied woodpecker
Red-bellied woodpecker

It's more of a blush rather than a true red... but let's not split too many hairs here unlike the Green Heron he has at least some sort of red hue to him.

Western cattle egret
Western cattle egret

An aptly named bird where there's cows there's this thing. I can't really fault her she found a niche and stuck to it but her name is more focused on her accompanyment than by anythiing of her own merit. Sorry queen.

Indian peafowl
Indian peafowl

Kind of a tryhard but you can't outclass the iconic look of her let's be real.

Brown creeper
Brown creeper

Bit of a mean name isn't it.

Common raven
Common raven

More like quoth the raven never-bore! This goth queen lives up to the hype.

Fish crow
Fish crow

They sound like if you were squeezing a regular crow really hard.

Killdeer
Killdeer

Charmed that thisi thing is a shorebird but I have a distinct memory of it being in the middle of nowhere in the gravel lot of a children's soccer field. May be my favoritie bird.

Northern mockingbird
Northern mockingbird

Got my hopes up because I thought I heard a warbler.

Greater bird-of-paradise

Kind of intimidated by it.

Steller's jay
Steller's jay

Unsure if this thing is as much a Massive Asshole as a Blue Jay but she's kind of iconic looking. It's the white eyebrow for me.

Eastern wood pewee
Eastern wood pewee

Though not a brilliantly plumaged bird this guy lives up to its name. It really does say "Pee-wee" and I think that's great.

Bald eagle
Bald eagle

I feel a little bad rating my boy BAEA so low because it's not his fault that it's a symbol of a facist country but my greatest beef with it is that it doesn't credit RTHA with its voiceover in movie roles. Who the fuck does that?

11/3/2026
Red-tailed hawk
Red-tailed hawk

Really gets the short-end of the stick here because the Bald Eagle in film continues to co-opt its iconic call. Truly an unsung hero of our time, she's iconic, gorgeous, and good at her job.

Common pheasant
Common pheasant

Found out only recently these are in no way shape or form native to the continental US. The Ring-Necked Pheasant also known as the Common Pheasant actually has a historic range throughout Asia and can be traced to the Qinghai–Tibetan plateau in southwestern/central China some one miillion years ago. While this phenomenal bird would normally be a 5 star for me I have to deduct a star for its invasive status, through no fault of its own.

These guys love to eat absolutely decimated squirrels in the road and I find that pretty great. Worry about their choice of dining location, though.

Great horned owl
Great horned owl

Sounds just like you'd expect an owl to sound like. Nobody does it like GHOW.

I admire their tenacity and determination to be Massive Assholes to all of the birds in the neighborhood but at the same time they are Massive Assholes to all of the birds in the neighborhood.

Heard it singing really loudly when I went to get my mail. Was pretty great.
