Absolutely fantastic family of rockets, despite being the first orbital launch vehicles the R7 Sputnik arleady had a capacity of 1T ton to LEO , while later iterations like the soyuz have a nearly 5T to LEO capacity with minimal change.

it hurts my heart to give this a 3.5 rating, it truly does. it's an iconic spaceship, one of it's kind (since buran never made it past the fall of the USSR) though, unfortunately, outside of design and it's place in history , it does sorta suck. originally meant to fly in the late 70s, it had to be delayed due to budget cuts and design connendrums. it was originally meant to be mostly reusable and cheap, however it unfortunately failed at the cheap part. on top of that, it was also the deadliest spacecraft, gathering up to 14 kills on 2 incidents, though the challenger disaster was fault of the upper leadership being suckers for reagan and desperate for PR of sending a teacher to space. We all really really miss you shuttle.

Helped advance our knowledge of what was possible in space between mercury and apollo, first american EVA as well as first in-space docking, though i'm deducting points because of the spin incident. And as a last note, the gemini capsule does genuinely look very nice.

genuinely fucking sick piece of technology, kerolox lower stage consisting of about 5 F1 Engines, the most powerful rocket engines ever built, along with 2 cryogenic upper stages using J2 engines, the IVB Stage also being capable of relight to get into lunar orbit, this magnificient rocket got us all the way to the moon , and even when those sly politicians decided to cancel the last few apollo missions, the last one of the Saturn V was used to launch Skylab, the first american space station, consisted mostly of a hollowed out IVB stage. That is all.
