Pi
Pi

I actually like pi better than this rating, but if we work hard enough we can have the rating for pi approximate the value of pi, which would be really funny.

Palsgraf v. Long Island Railroad Co.
Palsgraf v. Long Island Railroad Co.

Justice Cardozo does what he does (find no duty) and Justice Andrews spends five pages crashing out about causality. What more could you want from a tort case?

International Shoe Co. v. Washington
International Shoe Co. v. Washington

Despite its role terrorizing 1Ls for generations, you have to admit they got it right. Extra funny that we now have to talk about “international shoe jurisprudence” in discussing personal jurisdiction. At least it’s not Pennoyer v. Neff.

Supreme Court of the United States
Supreme Court of the United States

Every now and again they pull their heads out of their asses and bring us closer to a just society. But it's counterbalanced by the rest of the time when they're working hard to find the least just way to resolve things. There is not a single supreme court justice in US history who hasn't signed on to a stomach-turningly bad decision.

Ashcroft v. Iqbal
Ashcroft v. Iqbal

I understand you thought you had to adjust the pleading standards to make dismissal of frivolous claims a bit easier. Didn't have to be so racist about it though.

I'd say I'm not sure they'll ever top this one, but topping can actually be a pretty big part of this. So I hope all the lesbians who want to get topped do.

The best thing you can be, I'm afraid. So awesome they had to make it excessively difficult or else everyone would do it.

I have nothing against straight people in theory. But god they're like addicted to being fucking insufferable. I just wish they could keep it to themselves and not shove it down everyone else's throats

Tort
Tort

Suffering a harm is not a good thing. But providing a means of recompense for those who suffer as a result of others' actions? That's a good thing. You may not like the law of torts, but it sure beats the law of "damn, that sucks man."

Contract
Contract

Nice concept! I like the idea of providing some remedy for breaking of a promise or agreement. But the fact that it has to be a bargained for exchange? Not so keen on that; I feel like there are lots of agreements worth enforcing that don't involve a bargain. Also pretty miffed about the ways contracts are often used in our society.
