A claim needs evidence, and theism's best offerings are arguments that assume their conclusion. Even a first cause doesn't get you a personal god who cares about your weekends. "God did it" predicts nothing and rules out nothing, and every gap science filled was one it used to claim. The problem of evil, childhood cancer included, still has no good answer beyond "mysterious ways." And billions are sincerely certain of incompatible things, which tracks suspiciously well with birthplace. One extra star for community, comfort in grief, and great art. Useful isn't the same as true.
